Yellow Lamp

A shock-socket nest
Rests atop the formidable shoulder
Of a Monument: geometric, electric,
A columnar cline, up and up,
Fierce radii chasing corners,
Thumb on the switch: click.
The fire egg cracks
And our spiral-wired mini-phoenix
Hatches, sings a spark, a sun-shape:
Visible notes made golden-warm
And soft through the serpentine of its shade.
A specter? Reflected, inspected, suspended
In the moonly eyes across the room: icy moths.
They flutter to meet me--
Click.

I am moving, and I just found this poem that Susie gave me, dated 2/3/2010. So, naturally, here you go. One of my favorites by her. I don't even know if this is technically legal.

Ashley-Nicole, thanks so much for posting this! I didn't even have this poem stored anywhere anymore, and I'm so glad you kept it. It's always good to look back at past work and see what I used to do and where I'm going now. Thank you! :D
