Yellow Lamp

A shock-socket nest
Rests atop the formidable shoulder
Of a Monument: geometric, electric,
A columnar cline, up and up,
Fierce radii chasing corners,
Thumb on the switch: click.
The fire egg cracks
And our spiral-wired mini-phoenix
Hatches, sings a spark, a sun-shape:
Visible notes made golden-warm
And soft through the serpentine of its shade.
A specter? Reflected, inspected, suspended
In the moonly eyes across the room: icy moths.
They flutter to meet me--

On Letting Go

On Letting Go

I’ve searched the world to find a light,
to keep and call my own
and when it’s caught, I’ll hold on tight:
No thought of letting go.

For years I’ve hunted without fail
when on a hopeless night
I glimpse the trace of a star’s trail.
I trap it without a fight.

My fingers grasp this immortal blaze,
never to be freed.
This conviction shall not be swayed,
no matter how the star might plead.

Light squeezes through my blackened hands
attempting to escape;
but it will stay while I grow old,
to be entombed with my fate.

A happy meal comes with a prize
That’s chewy,
A disney tonic with a playground.

A dizzy tonic with a lime now.
That’s quicker.
Who’s got a gun, a moneymaker?

The greens in my salad are turning.
They’re wilted.
The roses- don’t pick ‘em. They’re fine.

St. Peter

I lay at your steps awaiting salvation.
grant me that which i do not deserve.
The angels above cover those below
in mercy

My actions call for a rebirth
a change of pace
where do i belong
it is not here

My heart was created for centuries long passed
My spirit flows in from the future

What ties me here is the search for solace
To find the midpoint of my far stretching differences

This town is painted in so many colors
each street
each building
holds a passageway to worlds beyond our view
each doorway. window
a mirror we can choose to enter
do we decide to pull back the curtains and see where each path leads?

we will be explorers in to forgotten lands
let us travel
take step into each path and breathe in the fresh air
become ourselves.
